hows it going all? i am new here and wanted to say, what up. my friend Kit told me
to join. well i am a knee dragger from northern cali. hoping to work my way into
racing on the track. the public streets are no place to ride the way i like to ride.
but as all you know its alot easyer said then done, thanks to the shadow cast by
money. but riding is the only time i feel free from the world, so i will find my way
to the track somehow. well have a good weekend all, keep it shiny side up

Welcome dude and I know the feeling about the money crunch. Without my sponsors, I wouldn't be racing now!!! Keep plugging away and you'll get there!!! AFM?? You'll be in with a very fast crowd up there!

whats happining,
ya i am thinking about the AFM. the mechanic i have as a backer and more importantly
a good friend, said thats where i should start. he used to do alot of racing when he
was younger, and knows his SH*t. he said that when i start at the bottom i should just
breeze rite through alot of the classes. hes been to alot of AFM races and says alot
of the people have hardly any talent compared to me. for an example, when i used to
ride my 98 CBR 600 f3, it was all he could do to keep me from passing him on his
ZX1100. he has his ZX torn down for a rebuild rite now, so we havent got to go heads
up now that im on a 03 Ninja 636. lol all i know is holly crap this bike is so much
faster. and the suspension technology difference is off the hook. he said that this
should be a 11 second bike, id like to take it to the strip just to find out.
now i had a stroke of bad luck a few months ago. i was t-boned by a fullsize truck,
thank god it was in a parking lot or i may not be here rite now. but if things go the
way my lawyer says they could i may make my Ninja a track bike, and look into buying
a GSXR 750 next summer. that is if i can stay busy at work.
well i have a few questions.
1 are there other other races i besides AFM i can start in, that may not cost as much?
granted anything to do with racing costs alot, mostly the cost of tires and gas.
2 do you have any tips on finding sponsers? or know of any doors that may be open? i
know that sponsers for the most part want to see a portfolio of races. which is the
rock and a hard spot for me, need sponsers to get to the races but need races to get
to the sponsers.

I think AFM is the big dog up there in your neck of the woods. Don't know if CCS is up there or not and furthest north WERA West goes is Button Willow.
I had to either scrounge around for sponsors (though I got lucky that BigHeadz took pity on me and allowed me to race for them) or lucked into some good sponsors. I still don't have any "BIG" sponsors however, SoCalTrackDays, MoPowerSports and Ti2TT have really helped me tons. All I can say is keep searching and they will come to you.
